D+P Book cover- finished piece

Review

I am pleased with how most of the elements seem to fit together. I feel like this is mainly down to using the same group of colours (red, blue and white, representing the Union Jack) throughout and how I mainly stuck to using watercolours. I also think that the advice to design the composition as a whole instead of doing the imagery and then putting the text around it really helped me. In my opinion the second attempt at producing the finished cover was much more successful because of this and I feel like the imagery as a whole works much better as a result. Having said this, I am not totally happy with how it turned out mainly because I found it difficult to apply the right font to the typography on the blurb, quote and author’s name. I think if I were to have hand written this in a more creative way, like I did with the title, the composition would have looked a lot better. Even though it was a long process to get to the point where I was relatively happy with the outcome, I think it was worth it as it taught me what it takes to produce a finished outcome for a professional brief.
