For this exercise we were encouraged to move around in order to find the best
composition that would depict the given
theme. I found this a useful exercise as it enabled me to think about the image as a
whole and not just focusing on drawing the
figure in its entirety.
Single line drawings- practicing being freer with mark making.
This was a good exercise which helped me to become less “precious” with my drawings however the outcomes didn’t have great resemblance to the actual subjects.
15 minute drawing. Following on from the previous exercise. With this drawing I was focusing on getting the composition of the image to reflect the theme of “foe”. I like how the line between the two figure more or less extends across the page and how their body language seems to reflect a sense of insecurity as they refuse to look at one another.
“Friend”- Long pose. This pose was a bit more difficult than the pevious one with the addition of the chair and sheet. Despite the obvious proporional mistakes, I like that I was able to add my own style to this longer piece. The face is something I find challenging and something which I need to takle instead of just leaving it out when drawing from the figures.
